Top Fall Leaf-Peeping Travel Destinations In The U.S.

Now is the time to get out on the open road and see the beautiful sights of nature’s transition.  The weather is shifting, and nature is going through a renewal of sorts. The best thing about nature’s renewal is the gorgeous spectacle it presents for nature enthusiasts.

If you love nature and you love to travel, Fall leaf-peeping is the perfect excuse to get out on the road.  Choose from numerous destinations all over the States, and check out a few of the best options right now.

Visit the Catskill Mountains in New York

The Catskill Mountains in New York have much more to offer than there is to see, though there is lots to see.  The color palate of fall in the Catskills is better than any painting you’ll ever see.

Just be cautious as your drive, as sight-seeing isn’t worth a car accident in New York.  Keep your eyes focused on the road as you drive, and pull over to take in the sights.

The Catskills are an extensive mountain range, with 35 different peaks that are higher than 3,500 feet into the sky.  Visit the various pick-your-own orchards in the area, and bring home something natural from your sight-seeing adventures.

Head to Colorado for some recreation

Head to Aspen in Colorado for some unparalleled recreational time.  You can enjoy the colors of fall with a little more vibrance in Colorado if you’re up for visiting one of the many marijuana dispensaries in the state.

Visiting Aspen in the fall will also help you avoid the massive skiing crowds of winter.  When the snow begins falling, you’ll find the place crawling with active skiers and snowboarders.

If you’re going to the West Coast

Visit the Cascade Mountains in Oregon on the U.S. west coast, and see another side to nature in the region.  The Cascades play host to the Columbia River Gorge.

The River Gorge is home to an array of tree species.  Cottonwoods, big-leaf maples, ash, fir trees, and twisted pines meld together to form a glorious display of nature’s diversity.  Enjoy hiking, canoeing, or rafting down the river, and make some memories that will last a lifetime.

Check out the Great Smoky Mountains

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park will give you an opportunity to witness some of the most breathtaking natural sights you’ll ever glimpse.  The area boasts more than 800 miles of sight-seeing trails on foot or by car.

The color palate of fall in the Smokies includes more than a hundred different types of trees.  Do some research on the native tree population before you go, and train your eyes to see more than just some pretty sights.

Drive through the Upper Peninsula in Michigan

Head north to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and check out some beech, birch, maple, oak, and aspen trees.  The calming waters of the surrounding three Great Lakes provide a fluid element to your experience.
